Elcon Precision has two manufacturing lines dedicated to etching titanium and nickel-titanium, also known as Nitinol. Titanium is a high strength, lightweight and corrosion-resistant metal particularly suitable for medical and aerospace applications. Titanium is available in two common compositions, commercially pure (Grade 2) and Ti6Al4V (Grade 5). Its strength is comparable to stainless steel and its biocompatibility makes it an ideal material for medical implants, particularly in orthopedics. For assembly projects, we recommend vacuum brazing using Grade 2 titanium since it is metallurgically compatible with most of our braze alloys. Nitinol is a superelastic shape memory alloy commonly used in medical, dental and aerospace applications.
We etch up to 0.025” thick sheets that range up to 22x12 inches. Tolerances of ±.0005 inches can be achieved in many applications.
